Dominican University is offering a new opportunity to professionals who hold a bachelor's degree, to join an emerging field linking healthcare and technology. The new program focuses on public health informatics, which is the science of using data, information, and knowledge to improve human health and the delivery of services by solving complex healthcare issues.

What is PHIT?

The future of healthcare is being powered by data. Health Informatics is a developing field that applies advances in data science to medicine to improve individual, population and public health. Trained specialists who can connect people, technology, and information to better healthcare outcomes, safety, and costs will be in great demand. PHIT is forecast to experience major growth, generating thousands of high-paying careers for those who have the right credentials.

A certificate in PHIT will build on your previous training and experience in healthcare and/or information technology, and give you the qualifications for additional income, advancement, and job security in the fast-growing sector of public health informatics.

PHIT Certificate Program Details

  • An interdisciplinary program designed to provide stackable skills for professional development
  • Each of the 4 courses will merit a ‘badge’, and learners will be awarded the Certificate after completion of all 4 courses (12 credits).
  • Each course is 3 credits @ $950 per credit, totaling $2,850* per course
  • Classes will be conducted online on a weekly basis, starting August 28, 2023.
  • One class a week will be a live Zoom session, with weekly assigned self-directed work and study.
